About Us
This new partnership was developed to provide mentoring services
which utilize each of the partner organizations' strengths to better
serve mentors, youth and the community. By serving as mentors in the
greater Dover area, adult and high school student mentors will be making
a difference in the lives of children as well as their local community.
Connecting
Generations Training
The training covers the appropriate
roles of a mentor, how to listen and connect with a child, and
how to handle difficult situations, using the Creative Mentoring
Philosophy. We offer free public training sessions for adults
conveniently located throughout Delaware. A complimentary copy
of " The Power of One: a Mentor Handbook" is given to every
trained mentor, The manual prepares them to build effective
relationships with their mentee, to help them reach their full
potential.
Big
Brothers Big Sisters Mentor Screening & Support
A Big Brothers Big Sisters
Coordinator will work with the mentors through the enrollment
process for some of the schools. After completing mentor training,
and interview and background check, Big Brothers and Big Sisters
will match mentors with a student in the Central Delaware mentoring
program or with a child in the local community.
Communities in Schools
The Communities in Schools staff
will serve as a contact for adult mentors working with high
school students. They will also facilitate the program for high
school students to mentor younger elementary students.
